Thank you for recognizing the other side of the story. I work with couples who are getting ready to be married in the Church. Most of them are openly contemptious of any discussion about NFP, or that they are promising to be "open" to the gift of children. Go to Mass every Sunday? You must be crazy! Obey the Pope?? They "make their own decisions about what to believe."
I have occasionally been known to get discouraged. - Peggy

I thought the article was on traget.

I do have the sympathize with the post by "Catholic".
My wife and I found out shortly after were married that we would never be able to have biological children. We have never contracepted! We even used to NFP to try to get pregneant. However, we will never have a large family. Through all this, I will be sure that my Catholic brethern and Clergy will ASSUME we are contracepting. - James

In Boston, much of the blame DOES lay with an archbishop -- the career-focused Cardinal Law, whose neglected first duty was to TEACH those Catholics, entrusted to him by the flawed bishop selection process, who may not be praying, paying and obeying. Responsibility flows upward. - Philip

Well done, Mr. Ruse. You help to explain why lay and priests have left for Opus Dei, Neocatechumenal Way, Traditionalist groups, etc. We are living in the Third Secret of Fatima, to whit, the Great Apostasy from top to bottom.See the just released report on seminaries. That is where the reconstruction will begin for a smaller, more pious, Church. - William H.Phelan

The simplistic writings of the Times, waste our time. Mostly they have no clue about the Catholic Church, sadly neither do some Catholics. One would hope the people who occupy this church building are praying daily; the rosary. Our lady in her msgs. to us always said, prayer, penance. This will change things. One could point out our failings ad nauseum, we are all guilty. Pray, do acts of penace. We fall down, we get up. May God give us the faithfullness to persevere. - B.A. O\\\'Neill

I love all those Catholics who have been given the wonderful grace of being able to have child after child with no problems. They always assume everyone is just like them. Therefore, anyone who has less than 4 children must be contracepting! There is certainly no other option. I am certainly glad my judgement will come from God and not these self righteous Catholics! - Denver

I am tired of that same sad story we hear over and over again from the laity. it is very tragic that the churches are closing, though. It looks like you tried to not "point fingers," but I would be very cautious about bringing up an innocent person by name and then talking about sexuality issues. Sometimes I can't tell what this site's intended audience is, so it's hard to criticize 'gray areas' like that. You're prob fine, I just care a lot about this site. Feel free to delete my comment. - Charlie
