Years ago at the beginning of the end, Tom Wolfe was being interviewed on the radio about his book "Bonfire of the Vanities". The interviewer said that all of the characters in the book were of poor character and did Mr.Wolfe wish to imply that there were no good people anymore? Mr. Wolf replied, "No, there are the same number of good people as there ever were, they have just become ... irrelevant."
Nello fought back. He was not irrelevant. We need more Nellos. - Joe

Heaven is full of Nello-people, full of humble children- those who put their trust in their Father.
What a blessing for you and your family that his blood mingles with His Blood thru your veins!
thank you so much RR for sharing. humble people leave that lasting scent in your heart, that tune that hums in the background of the mind, only heard when we are quiet.
every memory of him will be a prayer now, and he will do so much more good now than even while among us.
today was a heavy-hearted day for me when i awoke. thank you for giving me a "new friend" to ask for prayers- i will pray for your whole family and his grieving friends.
in His Peace. - debby

Having grown up with a few Nellos myself, I can appreciate this story. But where have all the Nellos gone? Where have all those strong fibered people who knew what they believed and followed their beliefs to the end. Perhaps they all went by way of the new generation who wallow in the murky sea of moral relativism. Oh! If we could only have such people like Nello today, particularly in church and government. We would be so proud and strong instead of a weak and vacillating mass of confused relativists. Three cheers for all the Nellos of my life!! - Willie
