Mr. Smith thanks for this guide to McInerny. May I humbly add that his mystery novels are delightful entertainments, but now it is clearly time to get to the serious stuff. - AHR

Mr. Smith, thank you so much for writing this column on Ralph McInerny! When I read his books on philosophy, I feel like there is a teacher sitting next to me, guiding me, challenging me, and saying: "Don't worry, take heart, you'll get it!" (The only other "teacher" who does the same thing I can think of--for me at least--is Augustine). Through the library system, I borrowed tapes of his lectures on Moral Philosophy that he did for International Catholic University. I learned so much from those tapes than I ever would in some of my classes. I think people hungry for truth should read McInerny, not only because he DOES speak the truth but also because his personality, his sense of humor really comes to life in the pages. How lucky you are, Mr. Smith, to have known him! - Emina Melonic
