Wow, James, it sounds like you have had a very unfulfilling life if you agree with the Greek's sentiments. I am sorry for that. But it's not too late to change that situation. I strongly suggest you try to find ways to be of service to other people. You can, of course, participate in projects like Habitat for Humanity, tutoring at your local school or volunteering at your local hospital, but you can also make serving others an integral part of your life that colors every moment of your day and every decision you make. Always think of others' needs first and you will be amazed how much life is worth living. And doing so will make you more receptive to the Holy Spirit which if you ask will joyfully fill you with more meaning and purpose than you ever imagined possible... in this life and the next.

"May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
Amen."
Hebrews 13: 20-21 - Sandy

Interesting, polls suggest that 75% of folks think there is an afterlife, which one suspects is more hope that belief given that at least the same percentage seem to be living for today only.

Mark Twain said about heaven: "I wouldn't want to go to any place where I can't cuss." To which I would add: "...nor any place that is not home to my dogs."

Perhaps the best we can expect was expressed two millenia ago by this old Greek:

Never to be born is far best;
yet if a man lives,
the next best thing is for him to return
as quickly as possible
to the place from which he came. - James
