The last line of this piece is telling: “The Eucharist is the place where men can receive the kind of formation from which new things come into being.” This pope really gets it. To the world, the Eucharist is bread and wine. To the Church, it is the body and blood of Christ. The Church has always stood firm in her scandalous doctrine, and I believe she always will. The world must think what it thinks and do what it does. Let the world be the world, and let the Church be the Church.

Great column, Brad! And I am very much looking forward to reading the book. Among many different things, which I admire about B XVI is his honesty and above all, clarity. Thanks for writing the review. - Emina Melonic
