The Catholic institutions could just stop paying for employee health insurance. Not to pay violates no moral law.
And it has been argued recently that dumping employer-paid insurance is win-win for all (Employer, employee, state and insurance company). - Gian

I hope that we all remember that the HHS mandate also violates the conscience rights of ordinary Catholic business owners who will also be forced to subsidize contraception, including abortifacients, or to cease offering health coverage to their employees. The issue of religious liberty includes the need for the freedom of lay Catholics to practice their religious faith. - Jeannine

Dear Sir:
The Bishop's strategy to turn the Catholic Church into a political campaign operation to deafeat the HHS Mandate and President Obama in November is a loser for those of us faithful catholics who go to church every Sunday, tithe and do our best to remain faithful.
As always in this country this issue is about money. We should use the resources we have as a church and help the poor and stop counting on Government grants to do good. The Bishops are so colored by the funds they receive from the Government that they can't see straight.
The path to redemption is not through politics.

I want to commend you on a fine piece. So many of us Catholics are fighting against this tyrannical mandate from the Obama Administration on many different avenues. From January 30 to February 15, I wrote six posts on my blog regarding religious freedom, formation of conscience, and rising to meet these evils as faithful catholics. We need to unite as one so our voices are heard. We also need to back-up our Bishops and support them in all that they do to fight the HHS mandate served up by the "President" and his minions. This country was founded on religious freedom. We must do all that we can so our religious freedoms stay intact as our Founding Fathers intended. - Tom Perna
