So two days ago I assigned my students to read chs. 1 and 2 of Yves Simon's "A General Theory of Authority," and today I get up, get my coffee, open up my computer, and begin the day, as usual, by reading "The Catholic Thing." And what do I find? Fr. Schall has boiled the thing down to a clear, concise summary. Simon is very smart, but not always straightforward or easy. Answer to today's problem: Print out Schall, hand it out to class, hard part of job over.

Fr. Schall, after the Fall Break, I'm doing John Paul II's Centesimus Annus on the issue of private property and the universal destination of earthly goods. I'll be watching this site --- you know, just in case. - Randall Smith

Thank you again Fr. Schall for an edifying meditation! These fine words clarify the confusion of modern politics. The farcical ape beamed into our living rooms is propaganda sanctioned by the evil one. The donkeys that are complicit know not what they do. - Achilles
