Thank you, Father, for summing up what I\'ve been trying to articulate for a long, long time. It's all connected, and we will only be able to stem this tide by finally embracing the teaching of Humanae Vitae. A daunting task to be sure, but our only hope. To all parents and teachers out there, keep up the good fight. Young people who\'ve been so wounded by the fallout of the sexual revolution are ready for the message of HV and TOB. The truth will set us free! - sarah K

I liked the Novak piece you recommended, and I just happened to stumble upon this little writing of yours. Would you be offended if I say that I prefer sitting in your class to readng your articles online? Ha ha, well done; see you Friday. - Elisabeth Griesedieck

Fr. Schall's final paragraph emphasizes the beauty of the theology of the body (which I teach and, ergo, see everywhere). Marriage and consecrated celibacy are two expressions of oen truth: Aquinas argued that the duration of time made giving oneself to God "in entirety" nearly impossible for Man--nearly, because consecrated virginity IS a TOTAL gift of the self, despite time, just as "love manifests itself in monogamous marriage, within a life-time of fidelity..."

Lovely! Thank you, Fr! - Edward D.

So surprising to see this today of all days. When a Jesuit Father Reese tells us that Obama got 57% of the Catholic Vote and Jesuit Father Schall tells us why, one wonders what would have happened if Humanae Vitae had been taught and accepted by our Catholic Bishops. It is really hare not be angry.
We do not hear anything, anything from our pulpits. Except, of course, how good we are and how much we should help the poor and suffering...who suprisingly happen to be ourselves. - Ruth

In a short article you summed up the feeling many of us get from the overwhelming "connections." Well done.

Thank you, Fr. - Charlie

Absolutely brilliant, Father Schall. Should be Catbolic publications world-wide. Mandatory for all Catholic schools. One minor matter: One might infer from your reference to Satan in Genisis that the demonic defiance "Non serviam" is to be found in that book. - Thomas C. Coleman, Jr.

"..bathed in a divine love for creation.." That strikes me as so beautiful and romantic. It has been taken out of the marriage equation for most young lovers. We are strictly a practical world today. - jen potts

I add my thanks as well, Father Schall. It is sad that even with the clarity of hind sight most people, let alone Catholics still do not see the brilliance of this encycle. - Grover799
