Could you please send this post to the chancery in Greenville, SC and, while you're at it, to every chancery in the country....the Shepherds, for all their angst at their meeting last week, still apparently don't get it. My hope is that, by pointing out that their coffers might be affected, they'll wake up & start supporting their priests like Fr Newman who is just trying to do his job!!! - gb

The time is near where the Church should voluntarily surrender its tax exempt status......Free up the Bishops, the pulpits, the hospitals and the charity organizations to speak and act in accordance with their conscience without fear of economic blackmail.Since politicians, government, the media are actively preaching the religion of secular humanism, the time for battle by the Church Militant has arrived.......... - charles smith

The weekend before the election, I picked up a copy of The Tablet, the diocese newspaper, and was pleased by the election coverage that had an emphasis on the sacredness of life, and what impact a pro-abortion candidate would have for Catholics. I was dismayed, however, by a section that asked several High School students which candidate they wanted to win, not one chose McCain, the pro-life candidate. Educators are key to this movement, and the Church must eliminate its pro-abortion teachers. - Raquel Okyay

Charlie,
I couldn't agree with you more. Let's imagine worst possible cases and then whine about them and wring our hands. If the Democrats try to shove this kind of radical agenda down America's throat, say goodbye to your majority in Congress 2 years from now. Governing from the center is not an option, it's a necessity. Obama is not stupid. I think he's proven that to everyone by now. Yes? - Jerry B.

Thank you so much to the 54% of "Catholics" who voted this nightmare into office. The unborn thank you as well. - George N.

"Expect the I.R.S. to go after Catholic dioceses, colleges, think tanks, foundations – and their donors – for promoting their faith in the public square."

Well, most Catholic colleges should be safe, then. - Richard A

Thanks for the clear outline of the far-left agenda. However, as you said, the country is still center-right, or at least center-moderate. I just don't see those extreme policies passing through Congress or Obama's desk. There are too many moderate democrats. They, and Obama, have been winning by moving to the center. The only thing I can see MAYBE passing is FOCA, and that is if Obama saves the economy first. Don't freak out yet. - Charlie
