All that's left to do now is pray for salvation from hell for what we allow the fruits of our labors to support in order to avoid jail and other worldly punishments.. - Jacob

Post Script. It appears that some of the current thinking is to realize that CONTRACEPTION is the practice which engenders the thought process that PEOPLE make children and not God. Human "husbandry" then follows animal husbandry in that in vitro and surrogate mothers become normal. That is perhaps why Griswold preceded Roe and Doe. As Cdl Dolan admitted, dissuading "Catholics" from contracepting has been the real battle for the last forty years. Abortions might follow "failed" contraceptions. - Manfred

Forty years ago we were told to work patiently and quietly within the system, to not be impolite, to let the legal eagles work their magic. Bad advice. - Dennis

Thank you for another excellent columnn, Dr. Arkes. A small footnote: I heard the president of Planned Parenthood this week on Public Radio state they were dropping the term "Pro-Choice", but they are not replacing it. It seems P.P. and its supporters are comfortable with admitting that a child IS being killed. She also admitted that these initiatives of the States, which you cite, are causing real constraints on access to abortion. - Manfred

What Nazism and Communism had in common was that both systems sanctioned the killing and torturing of innocent people and, if one saw that, all else that was sayable about the nice ideological differences of the two systems was, well, trivial.
