The left perfectly inverts the concept of all being created equal (in worth) so that in the new (perverse) meaning, all people are created the same. Because they are not equal in "lifestyle" options, it is the duty of a small elite to force equality of outcome using any means available. Worth is assigned from a sliding scale of political values with designated victims getting more paper worth while the elite gets real worth - power, money and opportunity. Unwanted babies have no worth. - Joe

Kudos to Prof. Arkes defense of Lincoln's true place in history. In light of the DiLorenzian crazies who sophmorically dispose of Lincoln as a power grabbing tyrant, this article is fresh and enlightening. Lincoln's deep understanding of the meaning of the Constitution's true purpose (to promote
democracy) was the only premise of his agenda. The rest is Rockwellian Conpiracy Theories. Mises Institute - RIP. - Mike

Well-said, Prof. Arkes! I have often thought that the point at which one side refers to any object as "just a [bundle of cells, thing, etc.]," there are unspoken assumptions and valuations implicitly being made and which the other side is being asked to accept unquestionably. It is the very denial of rational discuss to do so, it seems to me. - Jonathan Watson
