“Exorcist” author dies – reform efforts at Georgetown live

Schiffer-BLATTYWilliam Peter Blatty, Academy Award-winning author of The Exorcist, has died. But perhaps the effort which had the greatest impact within Catholicism was not Blatty’s published writing, but a Canon Law petition that asked Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Archbishop of Washington, to remove the label “Catholic” from Georgetown University because of its continuing embrace of secularism.
