Ninety-two years ago this month, there was a march on Washington — by the Ku Klux Klan. Images from the 1920s show the capital’s streets filled with more than 25,000 men, women, and children wearing the infamous hood of the Klan, while others show Klansmen standing next to planes before flying them over towns and cities to drop racist and anti-Catholic leaflets.
