In his interview, conducted by Italian journalist Massimo Franco in Corriere della Sera, Cadinal Mueller shows that, at the highest levels of the Church, there is a dramatic struggle between two different ways of viewing the world, and two different ways of viewing theology. Indeed, Müller goes so far as to propose that the signature theological-ecclesial metaphor of this pontificate — that the Church should be understood as a “field hospital,” taking care of wounded souls in a situation of confusion and chaos, as in a battle — should be changed.
