“Color” and “niceness” — now the limits of much civilized discourse — are but a small part of reality, and to unreasonably restrict speech and debate to them is itself a failure in civilized discourse. Truly free speech recalls the fact that things must be upheld, defended, and preserved and other things must be rejected in the very name of what it is to be a rational being.
