Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, has added his voice to those who say Amoris Laetitia represents a “new paradigm” that calls us to a “new spirit, a new approach” to help “incarnate the Gospel in the family.” Proponents of such a change stress the “objective relevance of extenuating circumstances” and of conscience and discernment in allowing some divorced and civilly remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion and even artificial contraception.
