In June, Pope Francis had threatened priests in the diocese of Ahiara, Nigeria with suspension of their faculties if they did not accept the Vatican appointed bishop, Peter Okpaleke. On Monday, the pope accepted Okpaleke’s resignation. The case could affect another divisive bishop appointment, Chilean Bishop Juan Barros.
