Vincent Guo Xijin, bishop of Mindong, was kidnapped Monday by Communist Party police. The chancellor of the diocese, Fr. Xu, was also led away. Bishop Guo has declined the Vatican’s suggestion that he step aside in favor of a government-appointed replacement. According to some of the Mindong faithful, Guo was kidnapped because he refused to concelebrate Holy Week Masses with his state-approved successor. [1]
