There is a case pending in the Supreme Court of the United States that would strike down the right of public-sector unions, specifically the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union, to collect dues from those who refuse to join. It’s odd that the U.S. bishops would back AFSCME in the case, given that it’s a political organization that attacks Church teaching at every turn.
