Who may receive Communion?
Cdl. Gerhard Mueller, First Things
Tuesday, May 1, 2018
In principle, only those baptized can receive sacramental communion who are in full ecclesial communion with “the one Church of Christ … constituted and organized in the world as a society, which subsists in the Catholic Church and is governed by the successor of Peter and by the Bishops in communion with him” (Vatican II, Lumen Gentium n. 8). Anyone who questions this revealed truth in theory or overrides it in practice enters into open contrast with the Catholic faith.
