The government of Australia has passed a law, currently applicable only in the Capitol Territory (the equivalent of our District of Columbia), that threatens prosecution of priests who fail to disclose knowledge of child abuse by another priest discovered during the Sacrament of Penance. The Australian Bishop’s Conference will refuse to comply.
