As far a the mainstream media are concerned, Pope Francis’s refusal to respond to questions about his knowledge of Theodore McCarrick’s crimes is okay, because reporters believe that to attack the pope on the scandal of the homosexual abuser McCarrick is to put themselves on the side of those who oppose same-sex marriage and the ordination of openly gay men.
