Two comments about the deal, details of which remain secret, that Pope Francis agreed to with Beijing: one from Cardinal Zen and the other from sinologist Jean Charbonnier of the Missions Étrangères de Paris. Each indicates that in the present and in the long run, the survival of the Church as Catholic may well be in jeopardy.
