According to a recent report, several hundred religious institutes of women in the U.S. are likely to disappear in the next few decades, and the number of religious sisters has gone from nearly 200,000 in 1965 to around 45,000 today. If there’s any good news, it’s that the religious orders not on the verge of extinction are the more traditional ones. [1]
