Two types of schism

Schism comes in two varieties, ‘vertical schism’ whereby one refuses submission to a Roman Pontiff and ‘horizontal schism’ whereby one refuses to extend that Christian unity owed to others who are in union with a pope. Lately, some in Rome have been on the edge of this second type.
