The USCCB’s annual meeting began yesterday, and the bishops were stunned by news from Rome (no new rules about sex-abuse before another meeting with the pope), which was surprising because the bishops’ conference had consulted about the proposed documents with Vatican departments in the lead-up to this week’s meeting, and that no concerns were raised.
