Honoring Fr. Murray

Last night at New York’s Union League Club, several hundred people gathered to celebrate the life and priesthood of our dear friend and contributor, Fr. Gerald R. Murray. Below are some photos I took with my cell phone. I apologize: I am no Richard Avedon.

Father Murray received the Fr. Benedict Groeschel Award, given annually by Good Counsel, a nationally recognized nonprofit leader and innovator in creating supportive residential care and community-based services for homeless, expectant, and new mothers and their children in the context of the Catholic social tradition.

Before the festivities began, Fr. George William Rutler greeted Dr. Robert Royal and shared a laugh . . . or two:

EWTN’s Papal Posse wowed those gathered with wit and wisdom as only those three can:

Robert Royal, host Raymond Arroyo (a masterful master of ceremonies for the evening), and Fr. Murray
