A number of people have heaped scorn upon Timothy Cdl. Dolan (and other bishops, but mostly Dolan) for not excommunicating New York’s pro-abortion governor Andrew Cuomo. The anger is understandable, but nearly all the accusers of both the governor and the cardinal have little grasp of how canon law applies in Cuomo’s case.
