The man in the sycamore tree

In yesterday’s Gospel, we heard the story of Zacchaeus, the chief tax collector who climbed a tree to see Christ. The only tree that can really help us to see the Lord is the tree of the cross. Zacchaeus has to cling to the wood of a sycamore to climb it; we must cling to the wood of the rugged cross. [1]
