The Pontifical Academy of Sciences, governors from the Pan-Amazon region, and officials from the United Nations were among those who signed a little-publicized declaration of commitment to sustainable development in the Amazon at the Vatican on Oct. 28. The declaration also called for “universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including for family planning, information and education, and the integration of reproductive health into national strategies and programmes.” [1]
