Americans agree that religion’s role in public life is ebbing. But while Republicans largely lament the trend, Democrats are split in their reactions. In fact, 63% of Republicans say a decline in religion is hurting the U.S., while nearly half of Democrats says it’s either a good thing or doesn’t really matter.
