Some speak of annulment as another name for “Catholic divorce.” But an annulment (technically a “Declaration of Nullity”) is a recognition by the Church, based on evidence, that what seemed to be a marriage, was not, owing to some intrinsic flaw at the time the vows were exchanged. [1]
