The Vatican report on Theodore McCarrick was released yesterday. It says the Holy See had received inaccurate information about McCarrick from three New Jersey bishops before McCarrick’s 2001 elevation as Archbishop of Washington, and that the bishops’ failure to report evidence of sexual misconduct may have been instrumental in assuring McCarrick’s appointment.
