The Vatican has announced that an ancestor of the late Princess Diana and her son, William (Britain’s future king), has, by a decree of Pope Francis, has beed deemed a person of “heroic virtues.” Father George Spencer, a priest of the Passionist religious order who lived from 1799 to 1864. Spencer was Diana’s great-great-great-uncle, and also a great-uncle of Britain’s wartime leader Winston Churchill.
