JPII assassination attempt: 40 years later

Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz recalls the moment St. John Paul II was shot in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981. Dziwisz, a monsignor then, remembers the shock he felt when the St. John Paul II collapsed in his arms after being struck by four bullets. “Holding the slumping and heavily bleeding Holy Father, I was in shock; but I knew we had to act to save his life.” [1]
