President Joe Biden on Friday did not include the 45 year-old pro-life Hyde Amendment in his final 2022 budget request to Congress. The original amendment, which is not a permanent law, bars federal funding of most elective abortions in Medicaid. Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City in Kansas, chair of the U.S. bishops’ pro-life committee decried taxpayer-funded abortion as a “failure” that will “subsidize the deaths of unborn children.” [1]
