For canon lawyers, today is a long-awaited day. Pope Francis has promulgated the new Book VI of the Code of Canon Law, which contains the Church’s universal penal law. This is a big deal in the life of the Church. In a number of concrete ways, it is obvious that the newly revised text has been dramatically influenced by the sex-abuse crisis. [1]
