Loving (and hating) the Middle Ages

Whether it is the saving from destruction a beautiful Gothic-style church or admiration for the sets of “Hogwarts” from the Harry Potter films, the allure of this architecture is an example of our modern culture wallowing in a simulacrum of an older culture that it simultaneously affects to despise.
