Vatican trial: former “watchdog” pleads innocence

Facing accusations that he failed to prevent a catastrophic real estate deal that prosecutors say cost the Catholic Church $384 million, the former chief of the Vatican’s financial watchdog agency, René Brülhart, told a judicial tribunal on April 5th that he is innocent.
