Few people know the extent to which the Catholic Church, under the orders of Pope Pius XII, worked to save Jews during World War II. At a recent New York event, scholars, clerics, and politicians (especially from Assisi, Italy) discussed the way the pope and officials worked to save every Jew in Assisi, as well as countless others in the north of Italy.
