Joseph Kennedy, a former U.S. Marine who was an assistant football coach at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington, was fired for praying on the field after games. Coach Kennedy filed suit in federal court, claiming that Bremerton violated his constitutional rights to free speech and the free exercise of religion.
