Cdl. Gregory has said he will not honor Abp. Cordileone’s denial of Communion to Speaker Pelosi. But Gregory’s predecessor, Cdl. Donald Wuerl said back in 2012 that he would honor such a decision by a politician’s home bishop because he “respected the role of the local church and the ministry of the individual bishop as shepherd of the church entrusted to his care.”
