In the Buffalo and Texas tragedies, lobbyists for Catholic bishops across the U.S. say working for effective policy solutions amid a wave of mass shootings isn’t easy. While the bishops recognize that citizens have the right to self-defense, they are concerned with the narrative that suggests we are somehow safer as individuals and as a society if everyone is always and everywhere armed.
