Nicaragua’s dictatorship sentences Bishop Rolando Álvarez to decades in prison

The government of Daniel Ortega has the bishop of Matagalpa, Rolando Álvarez Lagos, sentenced to 26 years and four months, charging him with being a “traitor to the homeland.” The sentence comes one day after the dictatorship deported 222 political prisoners to the United States. Álvarez refused to get on the plane with the deportees.
