The government of Daniel Ortega has the bishop of Matagalpa, Rolando Álvarez Lagos, sentenced to 26 years and four months, charging him with being a “traitor to the homeland.” The sentence comes one day after the dictatorship deported 222 political prisoners to the United States. Álvarez refused to get on the plane with the deportees. [1]
