French cardinal avoids sex-abuse prosecution

Cardinal Jean-Pierre Ricard admitted last November to behaving “in a reprehensible way” toward a 14-year-old girl 35 years ago. However, he’ll not be prosecuted in France because the statute of limitations has expired. Richard maintains several Vatican positions, even as Rome conducts an “investigatio praevia,or preliminary investigation, following Richard’s admission of guilt.
