Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich, S.J., the man chosen by Francis as general relator for the upcoming Synod on Synodality, underestimates the power of God’s grace and overestimates the credibility of social science, a branch of knowledge not known for its sympathy toward religion, and arguably not real “science” at all. Nowhere is this truer than with regard to homosexuality.
