The General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops (the Synod on Synodality) will for the first time include facilitators, “i.e. experts whose task it will be to facilitate the work at the various moments of the Assembly.” The presence of facilitators suggests a desire on leading Synod officials’ part for a less free-wheeling – and more controlled or scripted – Synod assembly.
