Canada embraces snowflakes, jettisons Cross

Canada’s national crown, that connected its history with British royalty, has been remade by replacing Christian religious symbols such as the cross with a snowflake and the fleur-de-lis with a maple leaf. The St. Edward’s Crown, based on the centuries-old crown used by British royalty, had been part of Canada’s coat of arms since 1957. [1]
