Like Benedict XV, Pope Francis seemingly rebuffed in bid to end European war

Benedict XV led the Catholic Church during the First World War, a conflict he did everything in his power to stop but failed to do, although some of his proposal went into U.S. President Woodrow Wilson’s 14-point peace plan in January 1918. Pope Francis may have to hope his efforts will achieve even that limited success. [1]
